“Failure to plan, is planning for failure.”

One of the most important lessons Christina learned growing up. Her parents would say this phrase often. They wanted to make sure her and her brothers understood the importance of planning and having goals.

This phrase is the more relevant now than ever. Running a business requires a lot of planning, strategizing, re-strategizing, and updating the plans.

There are so many moving pieces and it can be very overwhelming.

Thankfully for us we are blessed to have an amazing business mentor @nataliedarrowbarnes!

She has been coaching us on how to create a solid business plan that will allow us to grow our business.

LESSON #8: 𝗠𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗡’ & 𝗕𝗢𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡’ 𝗔𝗜𝗡’𝗧 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗬

I thought this lesson was fitting since yesterday was Mother’s Day💕

Studies have shown that being a mom is the equivalent of working 2.5 full-time jobs (it feels more like 5, but whatev) so if you ask me, I’d say 𝙬𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙨.

Becoming a mom has taught me that I am capable of seemingly impossible things. It has shown me a strength I never knew existed.

The universe has given me the privilege of guiding these incredible little souls through life & that’s 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱.

Through these early seasons of motherhood it’s easy to get lost in the chaos & feel like you’re stuck in the mess. The same can be said when you’re starting a new business.

So, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗛 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲?! When you’re raising babies & a business?

Many people will say 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 & I have to agree. We sacrifice our bodies, our time, our mental health, our friendships, our snacks, our careers, & sometimes our dreams.

As difficult as it is to juggle being a mother & an entrepreneur, two important things I’ve learned are that tough times don’t last forever & I can be completely in love with both of my dreams all at once.

At the end of the day, when my girls look at me I want them to see a woman that 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 for them & never gave up on 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 so that one day, they can do the same.

LESSON #7: 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗜𝗡🥂🥳

Starting a business for the first time is intimidating, & oftentimes just plain overwhelming.

Getting out of your comfort zone & doing something you’ve never done before requires a strong will, hours of research, endless patience, determination, & a ton of problem solving.

Every single task, no matter the time or effort it took to get through feels like a major accomplishment when you’re building your dream.

From the very beginning the whole process looked so daunting, we knew we needed to focus on tackling one barrier at a time.

We figured it out one way or the other & if we’re being honest, most things we don’t even have completely figured out yet. We just managed to do the best we could to get us one step closer to where we needed to be & with time, came lessons & adjustments. Always keeping in mind that everything we did was progressing our business forward.

So to avoid feeling discouraged by the never ending list of goals & tasks we started to do little things to celebrate every single accomplishment no matter how big or small it was.

Because when we look at the bigger picture, we never want to be so focused on getting to the destination that we forget to enjoy the ride.

Afterall, isn’t the goal to actually “live the dream” everyday?! We can hustle & keep it fun all at the same time, am I right?!

So, what are you waiting for?! Pop a bottle of champagne, do a happy dance, jump up & down, treat yourself to a lil somethin’ special. Whatever it is … CELEBRATE it.

Spending my morning dreaming up what this week could look like & planning out all of the little things that I need to do to get me closer to my dreams.

Monday’s have always been my least favorite day of the week so I’ve started dedicating my Monday’s to weekly goal setting & planning so I feel inspired & motivated to bust out the rest of the week instead of letting it drag me into the week kicking & screaming 😅 (also not a morning person)

But here’s to TRYING & making little efforts to get you where you want to be.
